Natalie Pritchard never planned to become a stroke advocate or nonprofit founder. Her journey began in 2012, when her 19-year-old son, Robert, suffered a massive stroke and brain injury shortly after graduating from college. In an instant, Natalie became more than his mother; she became his caregiver, advocate, researcher, and voice. As she learned to navigate an unfamiliar world alongside her son, she also saw how many survivors and families were searching for the same things she had needed: answers, resources, support, understanding, and hope.
What began at Robert’s bedside gradually became a calling. Natalie could not change what had happened to her son, but she could decide what she would do with everything the experience had taught her. She began serving within the stroke and brain injury community and ultimately founded the Robert A. Pritchard Stroke & Health Initiative (RAPSHI) in his honor. Through RAPSHI, she has transformed a mother’s love into action, building programs and partnerships centered on stroke awareness, health education, survivor and caregiver support, scholarships, community outreach, and humanitarian service.
Natalie’s vision has continued to grow far beyond where it began. Her commitment to serving others now extends to Liberia, West Africa, including the vision for the Aachen–Robert A. Pritchard Generation Medical Campus, envisioned to expand access to pediatric, elderly, and homecare services. What started with one mother fighting for her son has grown into a mission to help families and communities both at home and across an ocean.
Natalie is also a self-taught fashion designer and founder of Dazies Treasures, with her creative work continuing through her signature brand, Natalie Lillian. Through her philosophy of “Fashion for a Purpose,” she has turned another of her gifts into a vehicle for service, connecting fashion with philanthropy, health advocacy, and community impact including RAPSHI’s Annual Gala & Fashion Show.
At the heart of everything Natalie has built is still the reason she began: a mother’s love for her son. She took an experience she never would have chosen and chose what would come from it - service, advocacy, opportunity, and hope for others. What began with Natalie standing beside Robert has become a life devoted to standing beside others. ❤️
