Stroke symptoms can happen suddenly, and recognizing the warning signs quickly can save a life. Remember B.E. F.A.S.T. to know what to look for, when to act, and why every second matters.
Sudden loss of balance, dizziness, or trouble walking.
Sudden blurred, double, or loss of vision in one or both eyes.
Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward or feel weak?
Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is their speech slurred, strange, or difficult to understand?
If you notice any of these signs, call 911 immediately.
Understanding your personal risk factors is an important part of stroke prevention. High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, physical inactivity, and certain heart conditions can increase your risk. Knowing your numbers, making healthy lifestyle choices, and talking with your healthcare provider can help you take steps toward protecting your health.

Knowing the warning signs could help save a life. Learn B.E. F.A.S.T., share it with others, and be prepared to act when every second matters.
